Tree Stump Removal in Surrey and Hampshire
Tree Stump Removal
When trees are felled or fall, their stumps should be removed to prevent suckering and fungal root rots. Although often large and heavy, stumps can be removed with the right equipment and technique.

A few small trees or one large one, it makes no difference. Professional tree surgery no matter the size of the job! Clean and tidy results everytime.

Tree stumps can be left in the ground after felling but this can lead to problems with suckering where new shoots arise from the trunk and roots.

Completely dead stumps won't form suckers, but they can play host to root diseases such as honey fungus, so aren't worth leaving in and taking the risk.
Tree stumps can be physically removed any time. Paying tree surgeons to remove stumps when they are felling the tree is the most convenient way to remove stumps.

Physical stump removal is the best solution. Ideally the stump should be removed entirely, but if this is not possible alternative methods usually give satisfactory results. machines known as stump grinders will mechanically grind out the main root plate, leaving fine sawdust. Some roots will inevitably be left in the ground but the majority should eventually rot down.

Stump removal consists of the complete removal of the stump and any lateral roots of the tree and may be undertaken either using hand tools or a machine (stump grinder).

Stump grinding involves the removal of stump to a specified depth, generally between 150m and 300m. Upon completion of stump removal, the remaining hole will be back-filled with soil or grinding waste to leave a level surface.

After going through the expense of having trees removed from your property why leave unsightly tree stumps in their place? Grinding those stumps down below the surface of the topsoil allows for effective repair and replanting of the area (preventing honey fungus etc). Stump grinding is much less expensive than stump removal processes and it eliminates the disturbance of the surrounding lawn area.

The mulch created by the grinding process can even be recycled by using it on your flower beds to control weeds and maintain soil moisture or can be removed from site. Poisoning of tree stumps can also be carried out to stop regrowth if stump grinding is not required.
